Criteria For Choosing A Science Project Idea
The first thing that you should do is review the science concepts that you have learned in school. Preferably, focus on the concepts that you are learning in your current grade level. This way, you are sure of finding a topic that is appropriate or suited to your grade level. After reviewing your science concepts, you must now come up with the actual question that you'll wish to answer in your science fair project. For instance, if you want to do something in line with the concept of surface tension, then you can study how a laundry detergent works. For your science fair, you can do a comparative study of various types of laundry detergents when it comes to washing clothes. An award winning idea, however, is to design the "perfect wash" for clothes of various materials and various stains. In such a science project, you will prescribe the right detergent, the correct water-detergent ratio, the proper steps, and the correct motion or stimulation that will completely and efficiently remove a particular type of stain or dirt on a certain type of fabric. Likewise, if you want to focus on the concept of density, there are a lot of things that you can do for your science fair project. For one, you can show how different objects float on water to demonstrate that materials with lighter density than water will float on it. However, it would probably be more interesting and creative, if you are to construct your own lava lamp using this concept. While the first one will probably suffice, the latter is much more likely to win you an award. Make Time for the Project Whatever science project you finally decide on, be sure to start it with plenty of time before the deadline and the science fair. You don't want to take shortcuts because of lack of time; hastily made projects can not win any awards. By allotting sufficient time to your project, moreover, you will have time to do adjustments to your science project when such becomes necessary.
